Community Health Outreach Organizer

Maine Family Planning (MFP) is currently recruiting two full-time, temporary, grant-funded Community Health Outreach Organizers for a 12-month position. The Community Health Outreach Organizers will conduct outreach and needs assessments with identified priority populations. The identified priority populations for this project are immigrants from African countries living in the Lewiston-Auburn metropolitan area and members of Maine’s tribal communities primarily in Washington and Aroostook Counties.


  • Bachelor’s degree plus two years of relevant experience required or a combination of education and relevant experience can be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Interest in expanding health equity for Maine’s tribal and immigrant communities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Maine (mileage and other travel-related reimbursements included in project budget).
  • High level of comfort with public speaking.
  • Experience with meeting facilitation.
  • Self-motivated, creative and energetic.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the tenets of Reproductive Justice.
  • Basic computer literacy.


  • Identify and convene community members of the identified priority populations to participate in focus groups about sexual and reproductive health.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with ‘key informants’ about obstacles to accessing sexual and reproductive health care for priority populations, and best practices for communication with priority populations.
  • Develop and distribute survey tools to priority population groups in order to broaden the sample size of research participants.
  • Working with a contracted evaluation specialist, analyze data obtained from surveys, focus groups, and key informant interviews into a final report that includes recommendations for implementing evidence-based program updates.
