Primary Care Medical Assistant

Maine Family Planning is seeking a Primary Care Medical Assistant to join our team.  This position is 37.50 hours a week in our Presque Isle clinic.

The Medical Assistant, as part of the health care team, will assist family planning providers in the delivery of administrative and clinical duties including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documentation in the EMR per clinic protocol, patient care coordination (such as referrals), processing refill requests, assisting with in-office examinations and procedures, phlebotomy, injections, and administering medications as directed by medical provider, and other assistive duties.  Candidate must be able to work in a team environment.  Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. Medical Assistants work under the supervision of Nurse Practitioners as required by the State of Maine.  Follows Maine Family Planning policies and clinical protocols.

Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • Three to five years of experience working in a Medical Assisting capacity
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA and CLIA guidelines
  • Experience working with electronic medical records preferred

Education and Knowledge Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant training program required
  • BA/BS preferred

Starting pay- $20.76 hr.
