Comprehensive Sexuality Education Conference

Maine’s Annual Comprehensive Sexuality Education Conference began as an opportunity to provide sexuality education updates to school nurses and health teachers. Decades later, it has grown into an eagerly anticipated annual event for educators, school nurses, school counselors, and a variety of other youth-serving professionals. Every year we are excited to come together to share new and innovative programming, develop skills and knowledge, and provide resources for delivering positive, inclusive sexual health education.

Join us for Maine’s 2025 Comprehensive Sexuality Education Conference!

THEME AND DESCRIPTION
This year’s CSE Conference, The Power of Storytelling, will explore how storytelling intersects with sexuality education. Storytelling has long been a powerful tool for making sense of the world around us. Whether the stories are our own, those we hear from trusted adults and peers, or the narratives we encounter online or in the media, stories deeply influence how we perceive and understand the world. In the classroom, storytelling can take many forms—whether through scenarios, videos, or role-playing exercises—and serves as a catalyst for discussion, critical thinking, and skill-building. How do you incorporate storytelling into your sex education practices? In what ways have you seen narrative-driven approaches foster deeper connections and enhance learning for young people? These are all aspects of storytelling we will explore at this year’s conference.

Here’s a sneak peek of this year’s conference.

Participants will attend an opening plenary session, two workshop sessions of their choice, and a closing plenary. With more details to come, here is a sneak peak of this year’s presenters:

We will continue to offer the same full spectrum of compassionate, nonjudgmental, expert care.

Abortion care remains legal in Maine. You can access medication abortion at all 18 of our health centers, and via telehealth. You can access an in-clinic abortion procedure at our Augusta health center up to 14 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period.

Gender affirming care is still legal in the State of Maine. We will continue providing this care at our Lewiston, Norway, Belfast, Fort Kent, Presque Isle, Thomaston, and Bangor health centers. Mainers aged 16 & up can access gender affirming care, including hormone replacement therapy with or without a parent’s permission. If you have questions about financial barriers, ask about our Open Door program.

We will do everything we can to ensure that all Mainers can continue to access vital, lifesaving healthcare, no matter where they live or how much money they make.
