4th Annual LGBTQ+ Health Conference

June 29, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Hosted by the Maine Health Equity Alliance, this annual conference brings together providers and community members to learn about LGBTQ+ health disparities and build collaborative energy around their different work to address these issues across Maine.

The 4th Annual conference will take place on June 29 in Bangor at Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) and focus on advocacy for LGBTQ+ people and their healthcare.

Maine Family Planning staff will present a workshop entitled Abortion as an LGBTQ+ Issue & Right. This session will explore how movements for abortion rights, queer rights, and trans rights are inextricably connected, politically and legally.  As conservative and bigoted political officials ramp up attacks on the rights of LGBTQ+ people and those seeking abortions, it is a critical time to find common cause across our movements. This presentation seeks to demystify the political connections, as well as Maine’s landscape for abortion care and its delivery. We will discuss ways all health care and equity advocates can show up for LGBTQ+ patients, abortion patients, and the many people who belong to both groups.
