USM Fighting Forward Abortion Advocacy Training

To commemorate 45 years of Roe v. Wade, Maine Family Planning is offering intensive trainings in different locales around the state that invite reproductive rights supporters to deepen their knowledge & skills around abortion advocacy & join us in our efforts to expand access & promote justice in 2018 and onward. There are many new challenges ahead, and also opportunities for bold action. We’re investing in each other for the long haul. Won’t you join us?
WHO: Champions of reproductive rights (and newcomers!) who want to sharpen & deepen their skills on topics of abortion rights & access, and who are interested in growing the base of support for reproductive freedom in our state. Space is limited to 20 participants.
WHEN: Saturday, May 5th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (substantial snacks provided throughout session; Huskies for Reproductive Health will provide lunch)
WHERE: USM campus (Exact Location TBD)
WHAT: Participants will engage in presentations & discussions focusing on: Abortion Care 101; Legal & Political Landmarks of the Abortion Rights Movement; Abortion in Context: Exploring the Reproductive Justice Framework; Ending Abortion Stigma & Myth-Busting; and, Practicing Values-Based Conversations w/ Neighbors & Legislators
EXPECTATIONS:
– Participants are expected to attend the entire session.
– Participants also commit to collaborating on one of a menu of action actions following the training.
