Birth Control, Health Care

On November 13, Maine Family Planning joins with our allies in reproductive health and justice to say: Thanks, Birth Control.

Thanks for enabling us to build the families we envision, on the timelines that make sense for us.

Thanks for helping us regulate our periods, treat certain medical conditions, and control acne.

Thanks for providing the freedom to pursue our education, careers, and dreams on our own terms.

Thanks for being a key pillar of so many of our reproductive lives and futures!

Did you know? 99 percent of US women use at least one birth control method at some point in their lives. Four out of 5 women who are sexually active have used the Pill.

What’s more, the vast majority of our friends and neighbors (nearly 90 percent of respondents age 18-34, according to a 2019 Power to Decide poll) think everyone in the U.S. deserves access to the full range of birth control methods, no matter where they live, or what their economic status is.

(Which makes us wonder, why are the Trump-Pence Administration and right-wing legislators nationwide intent on chipping away at birth control access? Why are they funneling resources to fake clinics that don’t offer the full range of contraceptive methods?)

Get Birth Control at Maine Family Planning

Roughly 80 percent of MFP patients come to us for affordable, effective, and high-quality birth control such as the Pill or an IUD. All 18 MFP clinics have birth control on-site, so whatever method you decide on, we can get you started that day — no need for an additional trip to the pharmacy.

We accept many types of insurance, including MaineCare, and offer a sliding-fee scale if you are uninsured or underinsured.

We know how important contraceptive access is to our patients, which is why we have 18 MFP health centers spread throughout our large and rural state. (Augusta, Bangor, Belfast, Calais, Damariscotta, Dexter, Ellsworth, Farmington, Fort Kent, Houlton, Lewiston, Machias, Norway, Presque Isle, Rockland, Rumford, Skowhegan, and Waterville.) We also offer birth control consultations via Virtual Visits, so you can skip the clinic if that works better for you!

Our expert nurse practitioners will help you find the birth control method that best fits your body and your life. Call us today (207-922-3222) or go to our Book An Appointment page to schedule your birth control visit.

Join us in saying, #ThxBirthControl, today and every day.
