On February 21st, Governor Mills joined 19 governors to form the Reproductive Freedom Alliance, a coalition that seeks to protect and advocate for abortion access across the country. Maine Family Planning is proud of this country-wide effort to support individuals’ right to their bodies.
“This is an important stand for sexual health by Governor Mills and state leaders across the country,” said George A. The Alliance is committed to expanding reproductive rights and freedoms through state partnership. The founding members include Maine Governor Mills, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Delaware Governor John Carney, Hawaii Governor Josh Green, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee, Washington Governor Jay Inslee, and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
